OUR APPROACH

Group 446.jpg

Our Approach

When meaningfully resourced and included, women are powerful agents of change. SISU supports young women at key moments of life transition by working with both internal and external systems. Our five core approaches that underpin our guiding framework offer holistic and alternative pathways which transform the daily experiences of women in society.

Psychological

When a nervous system is overwhelmed, stuck in threat, or shutdown, it becomes difficult to plan, connect, or heal. SISU supports women to work with the full system - body, mind and emotions - and to create conditions for young women to meet themselves with clarity, strength, and enough safety to move forward on their own terms.

We explore how to:

  • Understand and regulate the nervous system

  • Recognise thoughts, behaviours, and emotional patterns

  • Reconnect with self-awareness, agency, and possibility

Social

We heal in connection - with others, and with ourselves. When young women and girls feel seen, heard, and supported in community, something powerful happens. SISU creates spaces where trust, belonging, and mutual care can flourish - where young women can explore who they are in connection with others, not in isolation.

We offer:

  • Peer Support - creating safe spaces for young women to share, listen, and uplift one another

  • Mentoring - building trusted relationships that guide, empower, and nurture growth

  • Outreach Engagement - meeting young women where they are, with care, consistency, and respect

Physical

Our bodies hold stories - of stress, joy, trauma, and resilience. When we feel disconnected from our physical selves, it can impact how we move through the world. SISU supports young women to reconnect with their bodies through movement, breath, and embodied practices - in spaces that honour agency, safety, and curiosity.

We explore how to:

  • Rebuild body awareness and trust through somatic and sensory work

  • Use breathwork to regulate and resource the nervous system

  • Strengthen body relationships through movement and dance

  • Cultivate grounding practices that bring us back to ourselves

Environmental

SISU defines the environment in a broad, holistic sense - honouring both the internal landscapes women navigate and the external systems we move through. Healing and growth doesn’t happen in isolation - they’re shaped by the environments we live, work, and relate within. We pay close attention to these contexts, and work where we can to shift them in ways that support healing and agency.

Financial

Financial wellbeing is more than numbers - it's about empowerment, confidence, and freedom to shape your own future. SISU understands that building financial skills can transform lives by fostering independence and resilience. We provide practical, supportive and confidence-building experiences to equip women to build stability, plan boldly and feel empowered.
